Who We Are...........

WHO WE ARE...

BUACA was founded in 2001 by Pete Geary (Founder) when it was realised that the potential force we could create with a bunch of likeminded bikers using their lifestyle to help raise the awareness of child abuse in their communities. We have with the assistance of bikers Australia-wide to gain a level standing with the research needed to address child abuse in our communities, to harness the strength needed to better deal with children that disclose child sexual abuse. BUACA stimulate the awareness in us all, as it’s a common saying amongst the communities that if bikers are doing it, then everyone should be doing it, be it on their Harleys, or whatever bike they ride in their car clubs or trucking community, the future reads that when you hear the roar of motor cycles you will remember child abuse, you will be reminded about child abuse, and you will also act on child abuse........

WHO ARE OUR MEMBERS, ARE THEY SAFE TO BE AROUND CHILDREN....?

Our members/Volunteers mainly consist of everyday mums and dads, or grandmothers grandfathers or anyone that feels they can do something to support the work we do in advocating for child abuse, we have business men , labourers , truck drivers, Carers, managers, Health workers, Social workers, Government employees. Every single member/volunteer who applies to join our organisation is asked to fill in a check able membership/ volunteer application and background check if they are to be working around children, It does not matter where you join the BUACA,

National security checks are processed on all members who do work with children or are required to be around children as a volunteer.
BUACA invites interested members of our communities to assist in developing strategies that assist us in better representing families that need support for their children after disclosure, usually this requires contact with a child. Any volunteer that provides advocacy for a child does need to have a working with children's check from their respective state of Australia .... If your a volunteer that does not work with children you do not need a working with children'scheck, but you will require a character check as per membershiprequirements...

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BUACA ACHIEVMENTS....?
BUACA has since its beginning has been involved in a great many projects, some of them substantial to the effect on helping abused children, please check our many pages on this website to see the great work we have done in our communities.

WHERE DO YOU SEE THE BUACA GOING IN THE NEAR FUTURE.....?

We have grown dramatically over the last 18 years. Our membership has changed significantly to more utilize volunteers that ensure our presence is qualified and up to date with policies and procedures needed to ensure our future. It would be wise to say that bikers are seeing the benefits of belonging to a organisation that prides itself on the many varied tasks it performs every day, everywhere within our community to facilitate the need for our child protection advocacy.
BUACA is a registered charity, our organisation prides itself on being able to stimulate discussion and a wanting of belonging to a cause that can protect any child that lives in fear of being abused. We do not have paid members, all donations are used to further our advocacy. We will act now!! We will harness the power of communities to be able to show further communities to do the same. Our objective is to facilitate assistance with help that is available to remote communities in Australia, BUACA also expect to be able to share what we have learnt with our government as to guide where help is needed most.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES.....

Raise funds for victims who have limited financial resources. This, in turn, enables the children to receive professional counselling and recreational activities. Promote the awareness of the existence of child abuse in communities, to heighten awareness of the problem and serve as a clear ‘hard edge’ deterrent for perpetrators to see in our communities.Support children who have been abused to face their perpetrators in court and other intimidating events associated with disclosure. We assist by one or more members/volunteers of BUACA accompany young victims and family to court and other venues where they must face their abusers. Provide a point of contact for abused children by visiting communities throughout Australia including remote areas. We act as a lobby group for abused children to government and para governmental agencies with submissions of what is needed to better understand the trauma involved with being a victim of child sexual abuse.

Act as role models for breaking the cycle of violence characteristic of the so called ‘Child Abuse Cycle’. Facilitate communities to identify their heroes who have served their communities above and beyond ‘the average’ with respect to stopping the cycle of child abuse and/or assisting child victims of abuse. Actively promote a sense of belonging and normality for abused children and encourage adults to ‘step up to the plate’ and be a Hero by ending the cycle

The world is a dangerous place, Not because of those that do evil. But more those thatlook on and do nothing!!!
