The Fat Lamb

Party at the Fat Lamb............

Sorry I dont have more pics but was too busy having a good time...............

The Boys from Orange wanted to put on a party for their becoming a chapter
and was a great one considering the hangover......
Even though it rained all day and night the place was packed with many camping for the night meaning we stayed up till late......The tucker was a mix of stews that were cooked in camp ovens during the afternoon.....

In 1866 Hanbury Clements constructed a pise building with a shingle roof. This was the first commercial building in the township of Eugowra. Mr. James Thompson leased the building from Hanbury Clements, obtained a liquor licence and opened The Eugowra Hotel. In 1866 the building was surrounded by scrub, and stood alone for about 9 years. It became a haven for teamsters, and some would camp in the street where they lit their fires. The name of one of the teamsters was Greenhalgh, a familiar name around Eugowra today. In 1872 rooms were added to the rear of the building to accommodate the first Post Office which opened in 1873. By that time the name of the hotel had been changed to The John Bull Inn. The Hotel licencee John Luraschi, also became the Postmaster. Other publicans over the years were Boon, Chesher, McLean, Stanley, Austin, Yeates, Laneyrie, Morton, Maher, Hales, Corcoran, Young, Kilby, Norrie, Tinman, Reid, Hopley, Skinner, Heidtmann, McDonald, McGinraty, Fraser, Upton, Moore, Shaw, Austin, Verden, Alderman, Swaffield, Skinner, Chaffey, Hooper, Barry, Roberts, Jackson, Seath, French, Welsh, Somerville, Davies, Price, Butt, Doran, Hutt, Hay. Those names in bold have been intimately associated with Eugowra ever since. The current licencee of The Fat Lamb Hotel is Karen Sexton.
