BUACA Darwin Awareness Ride 2010

As far are good plans go to plan this ride was put together by a group of dedicated members who made sure everything went to plan and more, lets go back to 2009 our first awareness ride and the reason we put it together, darwin is a very remote city, sort of like perth exept the weather in darwin is hot every day of the year, and that means we can guarantee a good day to hold a event, next is the fact that darwin is very hands on, if there is event to go to everyone turns up .....and lastly if we can offer a good reason to come along then the rest is easy......

The Ride began at the popular Mindil Beach which also has the Casino next door, not many people swim at mindil beach anymore as there have been quite a few ugly crocadile sightings there and its not regarded as safe, also 6 months of the year they have a jelly fish called a sea wasp that if you come into contact with it you get stung and could die....We also had the use of a helicopter that took photographer and a camera man to document the ride.....as soon as I get the video I will add it to the page....

Emiritus Professor Freda Briggs was once again our patron of the ride and Bree made sure she was kept busy chatting to all our guests ,
Last year freda joined me on the lead bike as we rode out to Livingston reserve....

The Darwin Committee worked hard and tirelessly to bring this great event together and as you will see their is a load of passion that kept them going considering whilst working nearlly every weekend they brought their families and they got the job done, this is a webpage that shows a lot of awareness was made on this ride and it shows that Darwin really does care about child abuse and that no child should live in fear......

The ride got underway about 2.30 and I believe we had about 300 bikes as well as a stack of other vehicles that stayed at the back of the pack and
we also had the main roads dept logisticly plan the ride so we would not be too much of a inconveniance to other road users.....

It was a great effort from members right around Australia, we were represented by Queensland-Northern Teritory-Western Australia South Australia and Victoria... And what a great reason to catch up.....
